The Adventure continues: Homecoming

Beth, our big brown dog Duncan and I arrived in Ajijic today. Closer to a homecoming than in the past. We rented a condo in a small complex of seven homes in a gated community where our friends had lived. Not exactly going home, but in the last year, our definition of home has become flexible. Resilience and a willingness to adapt are useful skills in Mexico.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and our lovely (and flexible) agent gave us a five-minute tour, handed us the keys and returned to her family. Our new place was beautiful, clean, in a friendly neighborhood, and all ours for the next six months.

In the last two years, we have purchased a fifth wheel trailer, a lot to put it on, remodeled the deck, roof over and garden shed. We sold our house and de-manifested two decades of stuff. We drove to Mexico for the first time and lived for six months, redefining our lives. We returned to Washington, purchased a much larger place in our same community, and spent six months cleaning, painting and creating a northern home. And here we are again, avoiding winter in paradise. We are officially snowbirds.

The Dogs of Ajijic have been waiting for half a year for me to complete their adventure. We unpacked our bags, washed the car, and stocked our new kitchen. Now I am joining the Dogs to wrap up their adventure and inviting you to join in on the magic of our home village in Mexico.
